Toolmade is a relatively new category within soft goods. It is generally characterized by the molding of soft 2D materials (fabric, leather, foam, etc) into 3D shapes. The 3D shapes are made by tools, hence the term Toolmade.

Molding the material to give extra volume reduces the number of seams that would otherwise be required. Toolmade soft goods will typically be void of any seams at all, if seams are required due to a required material change, yield or other constraints they will most likely be achieved with bonding or welding rather than sewing.
